Flight of the Concords – In 1998 Bret and Jemaine decided to start a band. They performed their one song at the Wellington Fringe Festival late night club.

 

In 2013 Phoebe Waller-Bridge, won The Stage best solo performance award for Fleabag, which is now a BBC series. Photo: Stephanie MethvenFleabag began as a one-woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013. Now it has a BAFTA and an Emmy!

 

Image result for The Kings SpeechThe Kings SpeechTom Hooper’s mother found the script for The Kings Speech at a staged reading in London Fringe. She called him at intermission & said: “I found your next movie.” He won an Oscar for it

Miranda Hart – Her 1994 Edinburgh Fringe debut in Hurrell and Hart she called  “a terrible show” which regularly attracted an audience of none. She tried again in 2001 with The Sitcom Trials, when she showcased You Say Potato, a prototype for the hugely successful Miranda.

 

Image result for Robin Williams -Robin Williams – visited the Edinburgh Fringe while studying drama at California’s College of Marin. His student theatre company performed a Wild West-set version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew in 1971
